North American Cup

Overland Park, NC, Jan 14-17, 2005

Nine of our fencers competed in six of the twelve events scheduled for the six weapons at the Overland Park NAC.

Junior Women's Epee:

In a field of 85 fencers Under 20 in the nation our fencers Francesca Bassa, Stephanie WHEELER, and Bethlehem WITTE got 16, 21 and 58 places respectively. Francesca and Stephanie got some points for Junior and Cadet national point standings as well (top 32).

Junior Men's Epee:

In a field of 132 our fencers Collin Eaton, Dillon Smith, Jonathan Bibb and Daniel Trapani finished in 38th, 47th, 49th and 50th places respectively.

Junior Men's Sabre:

Joseph WYSOCKI made top 32 in the field of 92 very strong competitors and then lost his DE bout on his way to top 16. Joe finished 30th getting some points for his national Junior point standings.

Division-1 Men's Epee:

Only three of our fencers competed in this event. There weir 183 fencers in total. Jonathan Bibb and Daniel Trapani made it to the top 64 after two rounds of pools and then both lost their DE bout for top 32 finishing 60th and 63d respectively. Colin Eaton took 77th place. Not so bad for Cadet (Daniel) and Junior (Jonathan and Colin) fencers.

Division-1 Women's Epee:

Stephanie WHEELER and Francesca BASSA competed in a field of 99 fencers. This was not the best fencing day for Stephanie who finished 96th by winning only one bout in her pool. Francesca who aimed for top 32 in order to remain in 3d place in US Cadet National Team finished 33d after she lost her DE bout to Lacey Burt from Oregon. We wish both girls a little bit more luck next time.

Division-1 Men's Saber:

Joe Wysocky again finished 30th in the field of 111 very strong competitors showing great technique and stability of high class saber fencer. Good job Joe and Akhi!!!
