2010 Israeli Summer Camp

Sponsored by Maccabi Jerusalem Fencing Club and Maccabi Maalot Fencing Club - two leading fencing schools in Israel

When: July 16 – 30, 2010 (dates may slightly vary depending on tickets availability)  

 

Who: Youth and teenage fencers 10+ years of age. 

 

Where: Multiple locations in Israel (see "Accommodations")

 

Accommodations:

  • In Jerusalem campers will stay at the beautiful Youth Village (Havat Hanoar Hazioni)- the very heart of Jerusalem. Kids will stay in dorms with 3-4 people in each room. There are 8-10 rooms per floor with community toilets and showers. Camp facilities include cafeteria, fencing gym, swimming pool, tennis courts, fitness room, and much more.

  • In Maalot (Western Galilee/North of Israel) campers will stay with local

  • fencing club hosting families.

  • In Tel-Aviv (Mediterranean Sea) campers will stay in one of the beach hotels.

  • In Eilat (South Israel/Red Sea) campers will stay in the Kibbutz (collective community farm)

The complete day by day trip schedule will be emailed to confirmed participants only.  

 

Security: Provided by local government security company 24/7. No cars or strangers are allowed to come into the camp’s territory.

 

Food: 3 times a day in the camp’s facilities, hosting homes, and group outings (do not expect cheeseburgers with ham JJJ).

 

Entertainment:

During this trip campers will visit the following cities and tourist attractions:

Old City of Jerusalem, Biblical Zoo, Latrun, Mini Israel Museum, Israel Museum, Yad Vashem (Holocaust museum), Knesset (Israeli Parliament), Dead Sea, Caves of Qumran, Ein Gedi, Masada, Tel-Aviv beaches, Jaffa, Caesarea,  Haifa, Baha'i Gardens, Akko, Rosh Hanikra, North Galilee, Golan Heights, Kineret Lake (overnight camping), Kibbutz near Eilat, Makhtesh Ramon (impact crater in the Negev desert), Timna Park, Aquarium and Corral Beach in Eilat (Red Sea)

 

What to bring: full fencing gear (2 epees), shorts and long pants, t-shirt end long sleeve shirts, sandals, hat, sun screen and aloe cream, swimming suit and towel, sun glasses, sleeping bag, American souvenirs, and good attitude

 

Documents: valid U.S. passport (you don't need a visa), Authorization for Foreign Travel With Minor (Power of Attorney), Medical Waiver & Emergency Release Form, Health Insurance Card

 

Communication: If your child will not have an international cell phone, you may contact him/her via the Internet or message Andrey at 713-301-7934. In case of an emergency do not hesitate to call Andrey at 713-301-7934.

 

First Aid: There are local first aid stations at all locations fencers will be staying at. It is recommended to provide your child with all necessary American medicine. You must provide Andrey Geva a notarized limited “Power of Attorney” prior to departure.

 

Training: Bouting every other day with local fencers, as well as morning jogs, swimming and fitness.

 

Coaches: Andrey Geva and local coaches.

 

Cost:  $1,800 - $2,100 (the cost may vary depending on number of participants)

Trip package includes the following:

  •  all accommodations

  • food (3 times a day)

  • transportation (private bus daily)

  • all attractions listed above

  • private guide (5 days)

  • Andrey’s travel expenses and fees (airfare, accommodations, per diems, coaching/chaperon, travel services)

Other expenses (not included in the camp cost):

  • Round trip air fees: about $1,500 - $1,700

  • Additional meals, attractions, and souvenirs
