We are all very pleased and honored by the USFA selection of Andrey Geva as the 2006 Developmental Coach of the Year for the sport of fencing.
A Developmental Coach is a coach of a Youth Club, High School or Junior level athlete or a coach directly responsible for coaching athletes to the National or Junior national level.
The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) sponsors the yearly Coaching Recognition Program to acknowledge all coaches for their contributions and to elevate the status of the coaching profession. Every year each of the 37 sports federation members of the USOC is asked to submit candidates in four different categories.
This is a well deserved recognition by the USFA of the hard work and great results achieved by Andrey’s young students since his arrival in Houston in 1999. Fencers from other Divisions now come to Houston to learn from Andrey and practice with his students at camps and training sessions. This recognition by the USFA is a great honor for him, his club, and the Gulf Coast TX Division of the USFA.
