Alliance Fencing Academy

With mixed emotion, Alliance Fencing Academy hosted a going away party for Dasha on May 7^th, 2005. Dasha is moving to New York in the middle of May to attend Hunter University for nursing. Our beloved coach has been with us for a year and a half. She will continue to be involved in coaching at local fencing clubs in New York. Dasha will be missed by all here at Alliance and by friends from other clubs.

All Alliance fencing families and its friends met to celebrate this special event and Dasha's birthday at the Smith's residence last Saturday.

Paul and Loren Smith hosted the party at their sprawling Southern home. Dillon graciously gave all the fencers a boat ride at sunset on his family's lake. Later we dined outdoors on the immense candle-lit porch to a wonderful bar-be-que buffet and wine from the Smith's own cellar. After toasting Dasha, the group rocked out to Pink Floyd's hit "Wish you were here" dedicated to the guest of honor, Dasha. Our fencers then relaxed by watching a "Phantom of the Opera" movement in the media room. Some party goers stayed until the wee hours of the morning.
