shines in Helsinki, Finland, and makes the podium
in Tauberbishofsheim, Germany in the Junior World Cup circuit
Dina Bazarbayeva of Alliance Fencing Academy had a
great international fencing trip around Thanksgiving. In the Young Lions
Junior World Cup in Helsinki Dina beat Karin Louise (DEN) 15-9. She beat
Iris Schechtman (ISR) 15-12 and lost to Courtney Hurley finishing 8th.
The tournament was won by Avital Marinuk (ISR) while Courtney Hurley
finished third overall.
After a couple of days of practice in Tauberbischofsheim the following
weekend Dina fenced in the Moebel Shott Dunlopillo Junior World Cup in
Tauber. This time Dina beat Leila-Annett Kummer (Ger) 15-10, followed by
Regina Galeeva (RUS) 15-14, Ricarda Multerer (GER) 15-14 entering in top
8. Dina won the quarterfinal aginst Katarzyna Dabrowa (POL) but lost
again to Courtney Hurley in the semifinal. Courtney won the gold and
Dina earned the bronze medal!
Current FIE junior ranking has Courtney Hurley at #1 with 134 points and
Dina Bazarbayeva #30 with 36 points.
