Houston Cup #2, Preparation to Overland Park NAC

The Woodlands, TX, Jan 8-9, 2005

The alliance Houston Cup #2 tournament was a great success. 92 fencers competed in the five epee events, 57 fencers in the five foil events and 9 fencers in two sabre events or a total of 158 fencers from the Gulf Coast Division and from San Antonio, Austin and Alabama. Of the 12 events run over the weekend, five were rated (one A2, two B1 and two E1). The Open Mixed Epee event with 44 competitors from ten clubs in Texas had 10 "A" rated fencers. The winner, Jonathan Parker of TFA in Austin, earned an A-05 rating. Congratulation to Jonathan and we look forward to having you at the other Houston Cup tournaments scheduled for this season.

A good number of fencer decided to sign up for the Houston Cup, a sign that this idea is being appreciated and accepted. We look forward to increase the number of individual participants as the season continues and hope that next season a larger number of local clubs will join in this effort.
