Go Alliance!!! Go Navy!!! Go Joel Katz!!!
2006 U.S. Association of Collegiate Fencing Clubs (USACFC) National ChampionshipsApril 1-2, 2006, Clemson University, Clemson, SC
Alliance’s own Joel Katz traveled with the Navy Fencing Club to Clemson University for the 2006 U.S. Association of Collegiate Fencing Clubs (USACFC) National Championships and brought home the gold. Congratulations to MIDN 3/C Joel Katz (25th Co) on overcoming stiff competition from Army, Texas A&M, Clemson, Cornell, UMD and 23 other schools to become the 2006 USACFC National Men’s Epee Champion! The tournament tested stamina as well as skill. MIDN Katz won 27 of his 28 bouts in the preliminary team competitions, then 3 of 5 to advance past the individual semifinals round, and all 5 bouts in the final round to win the Gold Medal.Over 300 men and women fencers from 30 schools participated in the grueling two-day competition.
Joel was a student at Alliance until two years ago when he went to the Naval Academy. He will be attending Alliance’s camps this summer. We are looking forward to congratulating Joel in person for this great accomplishment.
