Stephanie Wheeler is the winner of

$100 000 collage scholarship

As a fencer, eating a healthy diet can be very beneficial, as one Alliance Fencing Academy student recently discovered.  Stephanie Wheeler, 17, was recently awarded a  $100,000 college scholarship by Glaceau, makers of Vitaminwater.  Stephanie entered Vitaminwater’s “vitaminschool” competition to develop a healthy, nutritious and delicious recipe for schools.  After entering a chicken fajita burger recipe with watermelon granite for dessert, she was selected as one of 12 regional semifinalists by celebrity chef Tracy McGrady of the Houston Rockets.  Three finalists were chosen from across the U.S.  The final competition was held in New York City.  Each finalist was flown to New York to meet the finale’s celebrity chef, singing sensation Kelly Clarkson.  The final competition on June 8th was held in Union Square.  Besides Kelly Clarkson, Jorge Cruise of “The 3-Hour Diet,” Floyd Cardoz, Executive Chef of Tabla, and Darius Bikhoff, CEO of Glaceau were judges.  Kelly Clarkson crowned Stephanie the winner.  After pictures with Kelly, Stephanie was whisked off by limousine to appear on ABC’s “The View” morning show with Kelly and Jorge.

“I really got into healthy eating because my fencing coach, Andrey Geva, insisted on it,” Stephanie told a reporter from the New York Observer.  And what are her goals?  “I’d  like to major in Finance at a school with a great fencing program.”
